Project Management for Building Services
The building services profession is at the forefront of UK construction's evolution from an industry that builds, refurbishes and repairs to an industry that produces better performance outcomes in the built environment. This evolution recognises that that whole-life value is ultimately a function of how well buildings and their engineering systems perform, and whether this can be sustained in the long term.
Of course, the time, cost, quality, health, safety and environmental performance associated traditional construction activities are important. However, the creation of facilities that really meet user and operator requirements and the transformation of the UK into a sustainable and low carbon economy that promotes a high quality of life for its inhabitants, are also of immense importance.
The challenge for all project teams is to employ a project delivery process that can meet the demands being placed on the 21st century construction industry. Ideally, this would be a fully-integrated project process that starts with a clear definition of a client's business, operational and human requirements and ends with a post-occupancy evaluation of how successfully these requirements have been met.
The good news for these project teams is that BSRIA has produced a detailed, 8-stage framework for project delivery that fulfils these criteria - The Building Services Job Book.
This webinar will provide a brief overview of project management for building services and is based around BSRIA publication BG1/2009 Building Services Job Book. Copies of this publication are available from the BSRIA Bookshop.
The Lecturer - Glenn Hawkins
