Energy surveys

BSRIA can offer a range of energy monitoring surveys, from very quick assessments based on readings from energy bills and meter readings, to deep forensic surveys based on long-term monitoring, full power load assessments, and run-time analysis.

BSRIA is also best placed to advise clients and project teams on the most appropriate energy strategy to adopt for their new buildings, helping to ensure that:

  • the building will have the most effective energy metering, located in the right places to measure the right things
  • the building's zones are properly structured for good energy management
  • all equipment loads are known and accounted for
  • the planned operational hours are known
  • all these variables are factored into updated energy use predictions against which the building's operation will be compared.

BSRIA can advise on zoning, on sub-metering, and on the use of smart meters in a way that will inform you without drowning you in unnecessary data. We will break down the energy by type of consumption e.g. heating, air conditioning and lighting, and by key location, such as catering and server rooms

For detailed analysis, BSRIA assembles all of the building component loads and known runtimes into an energy use spreadsheet such as the CIBSE TM22: Energy Assessment and Reporting Method, Stage C: Systems Assessment and applies the methodology described in this guide for the production of energy performance analysis, reporting and recommendations.
